Meet Dr. Anthony Murray

His experience runs the full length of the system. He began in the classroom, teaching everything from Integrated Algebra through AP Calculus, and went on to lead at every level above it: department chair, district director of mathematics and technology, and most recently Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Along the way he led a district-wide 1:1 technology initiative, expanded Advanced Placement mathematics, launched Career and Technical Education programming, and brought AI-enhanced and research-based instruction into everyday practice.

That range is the point. Dr. Murray pairs executive-level strategy with the instructional detail most consultants never reach, which is why his work moves from the boardroom to the classroom and holds in both.

He also brings his experience into higher education. As an adjunct professor at SUNY Old Westbury, Dr. Murray teaches mathematics methods courses for pre-service elementary teachers, preparing future educators to develop strong mathematical content knowledge, effective instructional practices, and the confidence to create engaging, student-centered mathematics classrooms. This work keeps him closely connected to teacher preparation and the evolving needs of educators and students.

Beyond his own institutions, he serves the wider field. He is Vice President of the Long Island Black Educators Association and a board member of the New York Academy for Public Education, and in 2024 he served on the national selection committee for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. He is a frequent conference presenter, with recent talks on the neuroscience of mathematics and the mathematics behind emerging technologies.
